A hundred other ways
The Socratic interview is just one of a hundred ways I use AI to elicit my own best ideas and get me writing more, not less. As a writer, I also use it:
- As a sounding board to bounce my ideas off of as I talk through what I want to say and how to express it in a way that will (hopefully) surprise and delight the reader
- As an honest first reader to tell me where my writing gets vague, confusing, or boring
- As a project manager to help me set deadlines and keep me on track and actually finish things
- TK — to ask me questions that lead somewhere I wasn’t already going
- TK — editorial notes on what a draft needs, in the register of “tell a personal story here instead of the dictionary definition.” Never “your logic is wrong”
- TK — to work out the reader, the goal, and the strategy before drafting anything
- TK — to get me back to the work when I’m stuck or avoiding it
TK — the open-ended closer that makes clear the list keeps going
